Description

The HT Instruments PVCHECKs Installation Safety Tester is a multifunction device designed for the commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of photovoltaic (PV) systems, particularly the DC side. A key feature is its ability to measure insulation resistance of a PV module, string, or entire field without needing an external switch to short-circuit the positive and negative terminals.

Key Features

• Automatic testing: An "AUTOTEST" function performs an automatic sequence of required tests, including insulation, open-circuit voltage (\(V_{OC}\)), short-circuit current (\(I_{SC}\)), and protective conductor continuity.
• Insulation testing: The device can measure insulation resistance of the PV field with test voltages of 250, 500, and 1000V DC. It can provide separate resistance values for the positive and negative poles.
• Performance analysis: It measures DC voltage, DC current (with an external clamp), and DC power to help determine the overall DC efficiency of the PV system.
• Functionality checks: The PVCHECKs can perform a "Quick IVCK test" to measure open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current on PV modules and strings.
• Irradiance and temperature measurement: With optional accessories, such as the SOLAR-02 remote unit, it can measure solar irradiance and environmental/module temperature to provide results extrapolated to Standard Test Conditions (STC).
• Data management: The device includes internal memory for saving test results and a PC interface (via USB/optical cable) to download data using the included TopView software.
• Comparison features: It can store data from different PV strings for on-site comparison to identify anomalies or underperforming strings.
